FIRE AT RÖSSING URANIUM'S VISITOR CENTRE
(22 June 2008)

A fire broke out at Rössing Uranium's Visitor Centre at the mine at about 02:00 on Sunday, 22 June 2008, resulting in extensive damage to the offices and structure of the building. The mine's fire brigade team acted swiftly and had the fire under control quickly. No personnel sustained injuries while the fire was put out.

The mine's Corporate Communications and Environmental Management personnel operated from the building, and it was also the centre for hosting visiting groups to the mine.

A Rössing team has been formed to assess the structural damage to the building and offices, and at the same time a full investigation as to the origin and cause of the fire was launched. No fowl play is expected. The incident will have no impact on the mine's production targets. At this stage the value of the damage is still to be determined.
