Rainhold and Armas are the Rössing National Marathon 2023 champions

Tomas Rainhold and Alina Armas were crowned as champions of the Rössing National Marathon, today in Swakopmund.

Thomas crossed the finish line at 02:14:08, while Armas finished at 02:44:33. They both received N$ 20 000 and shopping vouchers valued at N$ 20 000 for their sports gear and equipment.

Rössing Uranium’s Managing Director Johan Coetzee congratulated all the winners who took part in this year’s 32nd Rössing National Marathon. “For many of us, today was a lot of fun, for others, today was a challenge like no other, but for all of us I believe this day was another step towards taking better care of ourselves.”

Johan said the main aim of the Rössing Marathon is to proudly associate Rössing Uranium with the promotion of a healthy lifestyle in the mine’s neighbouring communities, whilst at the same time, fostering health, safety, and teamwork exchanges among our stakeholders.

“The Rössing Marathon is one of our key annual social investment initiatives, and all the entry fees collected for over 300 5Km Fun Walkers, go directly to the Cancer Association of Namibia in the fight against cancer. The entry fees of the 10km, 21km and 42km are donated to the Swakop Striders Athletics Club, in support of the development of local and especially less-privileged athletes,” he said.

This year’s Rössing National Marathon received a record-breaking number of entries with over 800 runners.
