Rössing Uranium hosted its annual long service awards ceremony, to celebrate its 45, 40, 35 and
30 years long serving employees. Thirteen employees were recognised at the glamorous event.
Speaking at the event, managing director, Johan Coetzee congratulated the recipients, noting
that, it is a known fact that the most important resource in any organisation is its employees and
without such, failure is imminent.
“I take my hat off to all of you – the long-serving employees, for reaching this important milestone
in your careers. You have indeed served Rössing with dedication and pride, “he said.
Johan urged the long service award recipients to continue to serve as ambassadors to our
external stakeholders and as an example to all other employees at the mine.
He added that the successful growth of Rössing is as a direct result of you, our valued longserving
employees. “It is about the loyalty, commitment and pride that you, our recipients have
demonstrated in your service to Rössing, and we have come here to acknowledge you and
applaud you.”
He further added that what each one of the recipients has done is nothing less than a mark of
passion, dedication and perseverance. “This should set as a model for other colleagues. The
company sincerely appreciates your commitment and endurance.”
“It is these loyal colleagues who laid the foundation upon which Rössing has evolved, and in fact
at times survived, through trying times, like what we are going through the past few years,” he
said.
Also speaking at the ceremony, 35-years serving employee Glynis Labuschagne shared her
journey that started in July 1985 as the Confidential Secretary to Superintendent, Stock items, and
now serving as the company secretary.
“Rössing employees are well compensated, enjoy membership of a good medical aid and an
excellent pension fund,” she said, adding that employees are also well cared for and trained with
the company always being on the forefront of any new industry and commercial
improvements/enhancements.
Valerie Croza, accounts supervisor also took to the podium to share her 30-years journey at
Rössing;
“I started at Rössing on 2 June 1980, and I was part of the very first retrenchments in 1990/1991,
luckily I got a new position in Finance.
“I am forever grateful for being awarded the opportunity to work for Rössing, this long. I benefitted
from the good benefits and salary and was able to raise my kid as a single mother to the best of
my ability and was able to give them the best I could, she said, adding that “ I am a proud Rössing
employee and the 30 years’ experience I accumulated no one can ever take away from me. My
finance team, past and present remains the best team ever.”
