Rössing Uranium donated N$ 50 000 to the small-scale miners, under the Emerging Mining Association of Namibia, to attend an International Mining Conference in Angola. Speaking at the donation handover event, Rössing Uranium’s Managing Director Johan Coetzee said that Rössing has a long-standing relationship with the small-scale miners, withdifferent forms of support given in the past.
“Our most recent contribution was last year when we donated two boreholes to the Ûiba-Ôas Co-operative to provide them with a reliable supply of water. We are pleased to again make a positive contribution to the small-scale miners through this sponsorship, for the team to attend the conference. It is our wish that the team will come back with knowledge they will use intheir businesses,” he said.
“As a responsible corporate citizen, we recognize the importance of supporting our partners, and that is why we decided to support the delegation to attend the conference and be better equipped to support their members in contributing to the overall success of mining inNamibia.”
Also speaking at the occasion, the Emerging Mining Association of Namibia President, Thekla
Mutero, thanked Rössing Uranium for sponsoring their trip. “This sponsorship will help our members to go learn more and boost their confidence to see things in a positive way and for us as Namibians to participate in the mining sector by ourselves,” she said.
The team of 20 small scale miners also received bush hats for their trip.
