Rössing Uranium donated N$ 50 000 to the Mineworkers Union of Namibia, today in
Windhoek, for the union’s upcoming congress.
Speaking at the donation handover event, Rössing Uranium’s General Manager for
Organisational Services Liezl Davies said, the decision to donate funds to the Mineworkers
Union for the upcoming congress was not only a gesture of support but also an investment in
our partnership.
“As a mine, we recognize that our success is due to hard work and dedication of our workers.
We understand the challenges that come with mining and are committed to ensuring the
safety and well-being of all our employees.
“We believe a strong partnership between the mine and the union is essential to achieving this
goal, she said, adding that Rössing Uranium and the Mineworkers Union have had a longstanding relationship, and we firmly believe in supporting each other in our respective
missions.
She noted that the Mineworkers union plays a crucial role in the mining industry, representing
the interests of the workers and ensuring their well-being. We recognize the vital role the
union members play in the success of our mine.
“As a responsible corporate citizen, we recognize the importance of supporting our partners, and that is why we decided to donate funds to the Mineworkers Union Congress. Our contribution will help ensure that the congress is a success, providing the union with the necessary resources to organize and host the event,” she said.
“Rössing Uranium remains committed to working with the union to achieve our shared goals and ensure the success of our operations.”
The Mineworkers Union of Namibia’s congress is scheduled to take place from 4 – 8 May 2023 in Ongwediva.
